It’s pretty simple. Jesus said, “Give and it will be given to you.” (Luke 6:38)
Not, “Give when you have received.” Or, “Give as others have given to you.” Or even, “Give whenever you see things or people worthy of your gifts.”
All the good things we have – the blessings, the comfort, the kindness, the means to buy food and clothes – is all because someone “gave” to us.
And – this really isn’t just about money!
I had an opportunity recently to give something to someone – something they really deserved. Not a bouquet of flowers, but a piece of my mind.
Do you ever come across people, who for some reason, know exactly what to do and say to push you over the edge? Maybe it’s not intentional, maybe it is, but I’m sure you know someone you feel would really benefit from your piece of mind – and tongue – given.
Well, I closed my mouth and gave grace instead. I’m thankful, because now I know what’s headed my way – grace.
Don’t wait until you get something. Don’t wait until someone is worthy.
Give grace. Give mercy. Give compassion. Give non-judgmental words and thoughts. Give forgiveness.
